The Dreamcast Club is Back in Business!

Wed Jul 2, 2008, 3:27 PM
Why hello there and welcome to the official Dreamcast Club! This club is for those of you who remembered a great time in the video gaming ages: the time when a system helped advanced the way people played, but unfortunately got snuffed out quickly at the birthing of the Playstation 2. I speak of no other but the Sega Dreamcast!

I have been formally asked by this club's previous admin to run the club in his place, and I promise you guys that I'll do my best to direct it in his place!

I'll formally introduce myself to you all, my name's Aaron, dA name HatakeMirukon. It was quite awhile ago since I had a decent Dreamcast collection. As of this moment I only own a Dreamcast with perhaps 2 games...one of which I have yet to recover the game case. >.> Jet Set(Grind)Radio, and Seaman...however I guess you can choose to consider Seaman a game or not if you like. Anyways, I was always big on Dreamcast gaming, although I never did get a handle on playing it online. Classics like Phantasy Star Online were never fleshed out completely in my gametime....>.<. But I've played a wide variety and I get so nostalgic remembering them...

Shenmue. Jet Set Radio. Crazy Taxi. Virtual On: Oratario Tangram. Dead or Alive 2. Evolution. Hydro Thunder. Marvel vs Capcom 2. Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 (forget the Gamecube versions!). Power Stone. Seaman. Space Channel 5. Not to mention the big collection of game demo discs thanks to the big magazine being published at that time, which was the Official Dreamcast Magazine.

I spent so many hours on that system...and then, when I heard about it "dying" off, I was devastated. It was odd being a gamer and knowing suddenly that there will not be anymore games or magazines being developed or made for it. I was just used to "upgrading" with the times. From the Nintendo, to the Sega Genesis to the Nintendo 64, and then the Dreamcast, I was simply buying the next thing and not worrying that my previous system would be 'outdated'. I didn't have to worry about it being 'killed off' suddenly when I was in my fandom prime of enjoying it to the fullest. Until my current love, the Xbox(and Xbox 360), the Sega Dreamcast was my gem and it was a great system to play. The first to go online (even remotely successfully), first to host 4 player ports, and a great line of video games. 'Tis a shame.

I can't begin to tell you guys how excited I am to be the new admin of the Dreamcast Club. I will be brewing some plans for events, themes of fanart (IE: This is "Sonic week" or "Best moment in Dreamcast History" week, things like these), possible contests, and the like, so look forward to it everyone! I am also holding positions open for those who would like to help me run this club, so if you're interested, note the club and I'll get back to you ASAP. At the moment, I have one other person helping me run the club, but there are positions open so feel free to inquire.

<How do I get into the club?>

Glad you asked! Just note the club asking to join, and telling why you want to join. Simple as that! I, or some other admin, will add your name to the members list as soon as possible.

<How do I submit artwork?>

Send the club a note containing a link to artwork that you want to submit to the club. Up to 3 submissions of artwork may be sent/submitted to the club per week.

<Rules of Artwork>

-Artwork must not contain anything that would go against any of the deviantart.com rules, which includes obscene or distasteful artwork of ANY kind.

-This isn't 4chan. This isn't photobucket or myspace. Respect the club with your works. If your artwork contains mature content and if it is advised to be viewed at "full view", then a thumbnail picture will be made on the club's submission to go along with the link to the original work. That way, the club version of the said artwork can give an impression of the work while leaving the original untainted.

-Any artwork concerns can be noted to the club if you want your work to be handled differently.

- Artwork must be related to the game, not necessarily the game SERIES. (IE: Soul Calibur is good, Soul Calibur 2 is not since it was released for the Playstation 2)

- You are not allowed to send original art (with copyright), but you can use it for create new things with them. (IE: Using the Dreamcast logo in the midst of a DC fanart picture is fine.)
